Lapis Lazuli Shawl
Lapis Lazuli Shawl
This shawl is meant for the beach! Simple enough to actually knit on the beach during your holiday or wear it after it is done. During the day you can wrap it around yourself over your swimwear and in the evening it doubles as a light shawl to put on your shoulders.
It is a top down knitted shawl, and after you finish the setup section where you have to pay attention to the increases the lace section can be knitted easily, without concentrating too much. Increases are hidden in the contrasting stripes. Of course you can make the shawl from one colour only – see some great examples for this among the completed projects.
Beginner lace knitters can also make this shawl, you only have to know how to yarn over and k2tog. The increases are made with kfb, and that is all there is to it! If you are afraid of lace weight yarns you can also knit it using fingering yarns.
The shawl pattern includes 3 different sizes (with 5, 6 or 7 sections)
If you want a shawl that keeps you cool in hot weather, why not pick a bamboo or silk yarn?
The pattern has been tested and includes written instructions.
“Very easy, good for beginners, great carry along project since you don’t have to check the instructions very often. It’s a nice, rhythmic knit, great busy work.” by jerseystitcher
The second shawl from the Minerals Collection, inspired by the wonderful blue mineral Lapis Lazuli. The Minerals Collection contains three shawl patterns: Achat, Lapis Lazuli and Dioptase. All these shawls feature a combination of stripes and lace.
Take the advantage for buying the whole collection for decreased price and knit eye catching accessories.
YARN USED FOR THE SAMPLE
Malabrigo Lace (100% merino, 470 yards [430 m/50 g]), MC: Azul Profundo (150) 142 (210, 285) yards [130 (190,260) m] CC: Apple green (11) 60 (80, 110) yards [55 (75, 100) m]
Use yarn fingering, light fingering or lace weight. If you are beginner, choose thicker yarn! Busy yarns wouldn’t work well with this pattern. You can work this shawl with only one color too. If you don’t want too warm, use silk or bamboo yarn (or blend).
