New Shawl Pattern Test: Candied Apples

As you might know, I designed a knitted shawl for my friend Kati. She is a beginner lace knitter. She knitted the shawl from the draft of the pattern, and taking in consideration her experiences I have rewritten the pattern, made simpler and knitted it too.
You can read her diary: part 1 and part 2.

Candied Apples Shawl

The shawl begins with 1 st on a corner, and grows asymmetrically to the bind off. On the right side the zig-zag pattern is moving slowly to the left, and on the right side the shawl increases very quickly - these two aspects form the shape of the shawl. This is a perfect pattern for beginners, especially when you choose a hand dyed yarn for it: lot of stockinette stitch to rest a little between two lace panels. The pattern repeat is only 16 rows high, and you repeat it again and again - really relaxing knitting. Despite the simplicity the result is beautiful and exciting.
